Description
1. OBJECTIVE
This assignment guides you to familiarize yourself with a GIS software package, ArcGIS Pro by ESRI. As with any other software used in university classrooms, the use of GIS software is not taught in our subject (neither in the lecture nor in the labs). Instead, these online tutorials should help you to learn and practise this tool in your own pace, at any time and at any place, before you are going to use a GIS for your studies.
ArcGIS Pro is becoming one of the most common used GIS worldwide. Even if you decide later to use another GIS software package you should do these tutorials to gain a first understanding of GIS principles. These principles are transferable between GIS software packages.
2. TASK
The following online tutorials require that you set up an account with ESRI for online training. Students who were enrolled before July 1 will receive (or have received by now) a registration email. All other students: the next batch registration will be at the start of the semester.
Follow the instructions in your registration email to create an account (if you don’t have one) and connect it to your organization in order to get free access to the learning modules.
Then go to the Course Catalog (https://www.esri.com/training/catalog/search/). Work through the following suggested modules that are preparing for this subject:
